Install Gravel Base
Part of project
Concrete Paver Patio · Step 4 of 10
In this video
Spread a layer of granular base material, such as crushed stone or gravel, over the compacted subgrade. The thickness of this layer typically ranges from 4 to 8 inches, depending on climate and traffic load. Use shovels to distribute the material evenly, then use a rake and a long, straight piece of lumber (screed board) to level it to the desired grade and thickness. After leveling, thoroughly compact the granular base with the plate compactor, making multiple passes.
