Next, install the gravel base. Gravel is transported, typically via a front-end loader filling a pickup truck, and then moved to the installation area using a wheelbarrow. Spread the gravel evenly over the compacted subgrade to a thickness of 4-6 inches. Use a rake or a straight edge to achieve a relatively level surface before thoroughly compacting the entire gravel layer with a hand tamper. Regularly check the level of the gravel base during this process to ensure consistency. This layer provides essential structural support and drainage.
