In this video
Lay down the initial layer of 3/4-inch gravel as the structural base for the patio. Spread the gravel evenly across the entire excavated area. Once a sufficient layer is in place, compact it thoroughly using a plate compactor to create a solid, stable foundation. After the initial compaction, add more gravel to achieve the desired total thickness (usually 4-5 inches after compaction) and level, then compact it again. This multi-pass compaction ensures the base is firm and provides excellent drainage.
