After removing the old treads, measure their exact length to ensure the new ones are cut to fit perfectly. The narrator measures his old steps to be 57 inches long. Transfer this measurement to the new pressure-treated lumber. Use a square and a pencil to draw a straight, accurate cut line across the board. Then, use a circular saw to cut the new boards to the marked length.
