After the stain has dried, apply a couple of coats of an outdoor-rated finish. The host recommends using Spar Urethane, explaining it's also used on boats for its durability. Apply the finish with a brush using long, smooth motions. Avoid short, choppy strokes as this can lead to visible brush marks. Allow plenty of time for the finish to cure according to product instructions.
