After all treads and risers are installed, use wood filler to fill in any gaps, nail holes, or imperfections. The video creator used a small metal putty knife for precise application in corners and used her finger for nail holes. Allow the wood filler to dry completely according to manufacturer instructions. Once dry, sand all surfaces of the stair treads smooth. Pay particular attention to the areas with wood filler and any rough edges. The creator used a Ryobi multi-oscillating tool with a sanding attachment for tight corners and a standard sander for the main surfaces.
