After marking the approximate top center of where the wall mount will go, use a stud finder to precisely locate the vertical wooden studs behind the drywall. It is crucial to mount heavy items like TVs (or safes) directly into these studs for maximum security and load-bearing capacity. Scan the area around your marked point horizontally to find the edges of the stud, then mark the center. Some modern homes may have studs spaced 24 inches apart, while older homes commonly use 16-inch spacing. Confirm the spacing as this will affect how many studs your wall mount can attach to.
