Installing Water Shut Off Valves On Copper Pipe
What happens here
After cutting, use the reamer tool on the pipe cutter to deburr the inside edge of the copper pipes. This removes any rough edges that could impede water flow or lead to issues. Next, clean both the inside of the male adapters and the outside of the copper stub-out pipes thoroughly using an abrasive pad or wire brush. This step is crucial for creating a strong, leak-proof solder joint. Then, apply a thin, even coat of flux to both the cleaned copper pipes and the inside of the male adapters using a flux brush. If the flux is cold, stir it slightly before application.
Goal: Prepare copper pipes and male adapters for soldering by deburring, cleaning, and applying flux.
