The first step in making your keypad operational is to program it to your garage door opener. Begin by locating the 'programming' or 'learn code' button on your garage door opener. These buttons are typically found on the bottom of the opener unit, facing the floor (often under the light bulb cover), or on the rear of the unit, facing away from the garage door. The video illustrates different types of programming buttons: some are square, others are labeled 'learn code'. Once you activate the learn mode on your opener, you will have a 30-second window to complete the next steps. For openers with a square programming button (Type 1 or Type 4), press and hold it until the round LED turns blue; then release it, and a long LED will begin to flash purple. For openers with a 'learn code' button (Type 2 or Type 3), simply press and release it once, and the red LED will begin to flash. Once your opener is in learn mode, immediately return to the wireless keypad. The existing factory default PIN for this keypad is '3-5-7'. Enter '3-5-7' on the keypad, then press the 'UP/DOWN' key slowly, three to four times, until your garage door begins to move. This indicates that the keypad has successfully learned the opener's code.
