Step 5 · Remove the Damaged Section

This is the step most people slow down on. Take it one move at a time — there’s no rush, and you can rewind the clip as many times as you need.

With both cuts complete, the damaged section is now free. Carefully lower the heavy, cut-out piece of cast iron from the gap. You may need to gently pry it out if the cuts are not perfectly aligned. Set the old pipe section aside on your drop cloth.
