Step 10 · Test the Repair

The final step before cleanup is to test your work. Go to an upstream fixture (like a sink or toilet) and run a significant amount of water down the drain. While the water is running, carefully inspect the new couplings and all connections for any signs of dripping or leaking. Place a dry rag or paper towel under the joints to make it easier to spot small drips. If a leak is found, you may need to tighten the coupling bands slightly more.
