Step 4 · Edging and Corner Sanding

After the main floor has been rough sanded with the drum sander, use an edger sander to tackle the perimeter of the room. This machine is designed to get close to walls and into corners. Operate the edger in a smooth, steady motion, slightly overlapping the areas already sanded by the drum sander. Be careful not to over-sand any one area, which can create a noticeable dip. For tight corners, a sanding block or a detail sander may be necessary.
