Measure Tub Spout Engagement
At 4:04 in
I WILL DO THIS EVERY TIME IF I CAN FOR A TUB SPOUT REPLACEMENT!
What happens here
Take the new tub spout and measure the depth from its front opening to the point where the threads for the male adapter begin inside the spout. Use a tape measure for this. Then, measure the distance from the wall to the end of the existing copper pipe. Compare these measurements. The male adapter will need to be soldered onto the copper pipe at a length that allows approximately 3/8 inches of thread to extend beyond the end of the new tub spout's internal threading when the spout is fully installed. This ensures proper engagement and a tight seal.
Goal: Measure the required length of the copper pipe extension needed for the new tub spout to fit correctly, accounting for the threaded connection.
