Apply Thread Sealant

What happens here

Wrap the threads of the male adapter with PTFE (Teflon) tape. Ensure you wrap it clockwise (in the direction the tub spout will be tightened) for at least 3-5 wraps, overlapping each turn. For added security, especially with thinner Teflon tape, you can apply 5-6 wraps. After applying the tape, spread a thin layer of pipe joint compound (pipe dope), such as Megaloc, over the Teflon tape on the threads. This combination of tape and dope provides a robust seal and helps lubricate the threads for easier installation.

Goal: Apply PTFE tape and pipe dope to the male adapter threads to ensure a watertight seal for the new tub spout.
