QUICK and EASY Fix for Outdoor Faucet Handle that is Stripped!

hey folks that pixie guy here and today we're gonna be fixing this hose bib handle right here you know it's time it's that time of the year you're starting to water stuff you're getting everything prepped and ready for the gardening season being outdoors a little bit more and this handle you can see it's a little bit jacked up i made a repair on this a year ago and today we're gonna make a little more of a temporary permanent repair so come along let's get to fixing okay so the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna grab a screwdriver and we're gonna take off this old one be careful make sure that you're holding this handle you do not want this screw to strip i know the screw the screw is good for this because i just took this out not so long ago all right let me get in here and show you exactly what the problem was so if you remember i had to grind this out well you can see over time that my square has turned more circular at this point so it's just pot metal so it was gonna do that and i just didn't know how long it was gonna last but i mean it lasted a year but i've got a good fix here all right so i went down to my local hardware and i tried to find a handle that was going to fit this i looked i found something that was close but in the end it wasn't going to work because this set's a little bit deep but i remembered i have this all right this right here is a four-way stem key so this works for square stems right you can see this right here comes with a quarter inch 9 30 seconds 5 16 and 11 30 seconds right so just a bunch of different square style stems and this happens to work on this bad boy right here right if i find the right one you just go through it find the one that works and bam we're able to make it work able to make it shut off well this is a little bit pricey i'm not gonna leave this out here plus i need it for work so this right here is a silcot key i'll put a link in the description box below right this is just going to work out these are fairly cheap and it just is going to work awesome check this out so pop that on there and hook that right up now i'm going to guarantee that's a good seal right like there's not a lot of play left in that and this is going to last me until i'm able to replace this hose bib which hopefully is this summer so then i'm going to take this key and i'm actually going to secure it to my hose bib right i just grabbed some paracord this is white it's not going to stay white for long but this is going to hook this right up man i will just secure this up sure there's better ways to do this but this is gonna be great all right pull out my old knife then logan said dad what are you doing with that lighter well you want to make sure that your paracord doesn't fray stamp it out and that's good to go that's not going to fray up anymore and get that secured on there that ain't going anywhere and now we have an on and off right we have a key that's secured it's gonna work so now i've eliminated the need for a handle by adding this right here and this also works as a security measure your house if somebody's stealing your water right because they have access to your handle well there's a good chance they're not going to have one of these keys if you take it off well then you don't have to put this on and you just know where the key is and nobody will mess with it this actually is a great little anti-theft device for your water as well all right i really hope this video helps if you guys could please subscribe to the channel click the like button we're just trying to help we hope that we're doing that thank you very much and we'll see you again real soon
