Clean and Dry the Surface Thoroughly — Clean the Surface
Part of project
Bathtub Caulking · Step 2 of 8
In this video
Once all old caulk is removed, the area must be completely clean and dry. Use a barely damp sponge and rub it along the perimeter of the bathtub/shower, going back and forth a few times to remove any residual particles. Next, take a clean towel and thoroughly dry the entire area, ensuring no water is left. This ensures optimal adhesion for the new caulk. As a final step, use a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle attachment to suck up any lingering dust or small particles along the seam, leaving the surface perfectly smooth and clean. You should feel no bumps when running your finger along the tile or bathtub.
