Step 8 · Apply Mulch

Spread a 2-3 inch layer of organic mulch, such as wood chips, shredded bark, or compost, around the base of the ornamental grass. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the crown of the plant to prevent moisture buildup and potential rot. Mulch helps to conserve soil moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weed growth.
