Step 3 · Dig the Planting Hole

Using a shovel, dig a hole that is approximately two times the width of the grass's root ball and equal in depth. This ensures that the roots have ample space to spread out into the loosened soil. The sides of the hole should also be roughened to prevent the roots from becoming pot-bound.
