Step 6 · Backfill the Hole

Use the soil mixture you prepared earlier to backfill the hole around the root ball. Gently firm the soil with your hands or the back of your shovel to eliminate any large air pockets. Do not compact the soil too tightly, as this can hinder root growth and water penetration.
