We don't have the right materials to finish (Ep.3)

What happens here

Following the subfloor installation, the walls of the shed (or A-frame cabin in this case) are framed. This involves laying out the wall plates (top and bottom plates) on the subfloor, cutting studs to length, and assembling them into wall sections on the flat subfloor. Workers use pneumatic nail guns to quickly and accurately fasten the studs to the plates, creating the basic skeletal structure of each wall. Openings for windows and doors are framed with headers and cripple studs. Once assembled, the walls are manually tilted up into their vertical position. Temporary bracing is used to hold the walls plumb and square until they can be fully secured. The use of pneumatic nail guns significantly accelerates the assembly process, allowing multiple walls to be framed and raised in a shorter timeframe.

Goal: Construct and erect the vertical structural elements of the shed

Tools and materials

  • Air compressor — Providing compressed air to the pneumatic nail guns
  • Air hose — Connecting pneumatic nail guns to the air compressor
  • Circular saw — Cutting lumber to the required lengths for studs, plates, and headers
  • Ladders — Accessing higher parts of the wall during framing and raising
  • Lumber — Constructing the vertical and horizontal components of the wall frames
  • Measuring tape — Accurately measuring and laying out wall components
  • Pneumatic nail gun — Fastening all wood members of the wall frame together
  • Speed square/framing square — Ensuring square cuts and accurate angles for framing
  • Temporary bracing lumber — Holding framed walls upright and plumb until permanently secured
