What happens here

This video details the process of laying a concrete foundation for an A-frame cabin and installing a septic system. It covers the preparation of formwork and rebar, the concrete pouring using a pump truck, the setting of sonotube footings for a future deck, the excavation and installation of a septic tank and drain field, and concludes with a brief, unrelated sponsored segment on installing truck running boards.

hey guys welcome back to episode two of building an A-frame Cabin in the Woods we got a really exciting day today the biggest things are happening today and I'm so excited to show you we've made a long way through we went from excavation to digging our footings and today as you can see we got a big day we're actually going to start pouring our foundation so the inspector came out they want to make sure they see all this rebar before the concrete gets poured this is going to be in a two-step process where the footings are going to get poured I believe they're about 8 in tall once that's done tomorrow they're going to take these molds off and build new molds where the actual stem wall over the foundation is going to come up now it's going to come up quite a bit because we're going to bury some of it below and leaving some exposed so that when water starts draining it doesn't start flooding into it second thing they're going to do is after these footings and the stem wall up poured they're going to start waterproofing it and they're going to just basically roll on a waterproofing on the side of the stem wall that's going to be Beed on the ground again to keep any of the moisture from seeping back into it I don't know if you can tell by the uh the fact that I'm holding my voice but it's going to be a very exciting day today so the cement truck should be pulling up here any minute now um this is going to be kind of interesting because the driveway is not narrow but all the roads coming here are we got a cement truck and we got a pump with the whole crane situation I honestly don't know how they're going to do this um they're the pros they're the experts I'm sure if there was any issues they would have uh let me know when they were setting the rebar but uh here goes nothing for another adventure I'll be meeting with the uh the Water Master here to connect tap into the water that's around here the nice thing is we don't have to get a well but there's a blue marker right there which indicates there's a water line coming and running up and down the street it's kind of sucks cuz I have to pay 1300 bucks to connect the water and they do nothing they just tell me you can connect there and my plumber has to do the rest so I'm going to measure this driveway see how much conduit or pecs that he'll need they come in like 100 and 300t roll so we'll see how expensive this is going to get [Music] that's about 100 ft we got another probably 80 maybe 60 to go should have got the longer tape we're looking at 150 ft hopefully he won't have to charge me for a 300t roll but that sounds something I could avoid at this point I think I hear the cement truck [Music] I'm so glad we made this driveway wide enough originally I was like oh let's just do the classic 12 ft but we really needed this extra room especially if we got to get our so symetric in [Music] here you would have to come out this way go back around exactly exactly yeah your guy would only have trouble making that turn see that's what you came out of that's F that's a sharp turn all right so uh again tight spot here for the most easy access with both trucks we're going to have them go on the other side of the road there it's nice cuz they can both pull up back to back to each other only problem is is reaching the very back part here but the concrete guys can always push that stuff out to let it flow further out um I'm just glad we're not getting anybody stuck and everybody can fit through here so he's a pretty damnn good driver I mean some of these Maneuvers out here in this little neighborhood is not the not the easiest ones [Music] guys where would we be without our trucks our work trucks this is the rig that we either use it Monday through Friday for work or this is our weekend warrior we needed to accomplish our projects that's why I'm super excited to talk about sponsors of today's video real truck over the last year I've been contempla to getting new truck and then nothing on the market really excited me so I decided to turn my truck into my dream truck and making all the customizations I wanted and that's where real truck came in they are my one-step shop for all the modifications that I need to get this rig looking mean so whether you're looking for grills bumpers lights running boards tonu covers headache racks they have it all with a wide range of prices across all different categories and one of the modifications I just put on this truck are these amp power steps now you're not seeing it yet but here's the cool part oh there they are [Music] the new trucks have them my truck doesn't have it and now I have them so not only is a nice wide 6-in power step it has LED lights under it they deploy and cover up every time you open or close the door check this out works every single time now I'll be completely honest with you I had a busy day today and the last thing I want to do is Tinker with motorized gadgets like that but the instructions could not be simpler there is no wiring fidgeting anything I had to do crazy it's literally everything's Plug and Play easy screws easy bolts easy plug-and playay it was a breeze I think it took me a total of 3 hours just cuz I went in and had some dinner too I could not be more happier with these and power steps these used to be my original steps they were fine but the problem is is my truck's got a little 6-in lift on it and by the time those steps were on it didn't look as aggressive but now look at all this crazy clearance like I got cool features on a 2013 truck that only like 2024 trucks really come freaking excited one of my favorite features of real truck is their rapid ship I ordered these power steps on Friday miday they showed up Monday morning just like that ready to go so bring your truck back to life head to realtruck.com and make your truck that badass truck that it deserves to be and you always want it thank you real truck for partnering with us now let's get back to this video we're trying to measure these Sona tubes we need an extra foot to get them properly spaced out what the plants call for I'm just glad to pump shart guy Matt had a shovel on hand cuz or else I use my bare claws see I'm doing some of the work on this project earning my keep how's it looking good man good sweet oh look at that I went too [Applause] far all right I'm back in business we got to get these footings for the deck set up here and we got a tree that's directly in line with the boom of the pump Matt's trying to get it right through it without breaking the tree and we don't want to move the truck right now cuz it's all set up with the base plates and all we'll see how we do better get out of the way you son of a gun you did it no trees no trees were harmed in this operation dude that's that's that's a clutch operation right there [Music] all right it's been about a week we're finally back the concerete guys are done with everything we got our footings and our stem wall finally poured in as you can see this black tar here that's the waterproofing all this is going to get back filled right so when the frost settles in all of this is going to prevent any kind of moisture from getting seeped into and compromising the Jeopardy of our concrete stem wall or getting potentially into our crawl space creating more uh moisture I guess and though this looks super high you got to understand there's going to be all this back filling so when the dirt comes up it's going to go up to the line here this is going to be our exposed area and because we're building an A-frame the thing is going to basically sit here and then we're going to have this much space from any kind of you know breathability we have little air vents right over here to make sure there's no moisture building up in here this is looking sick this is so incredible we got to we got to celebrate somehow all right so the next thing we got going on right now is we're going to be setting our septic tank which is super exciting we already got our first stamp of approval for our speculative site potentially where the drain field will go in proportions to water sources the the property lines all that jazz got all figured out got our first approval uh Tanner and This Crew got the drain field all laid out we got our drain pipes in there for the septic tank we have our gravel rock in there to ensure all the drainage we have our weed barrier fabric down uh and then once they're ready they got last piece of Plumbing in there we're going to figure out where we're actually going to drop the tank we're originally going to put it over there but we have a bunch of dirt there and uh that's going to be kind of inconvenient so somewhere up here he'll let me know what he's thinking a lot of moving Parts you know you might have a good solid plan but things come about especially everything comes down to when you're working on a sloped property yes the Killer part is the view that's what we're here for but you know there's there's a lot of hiccups to in the way and you kind of have to cross one out as you come across him that's one big hole now we got a place to hide the bodies always have a place to hide the bodies I think you guys are ready for that septic system [Music] guys this is a crazy accomplishment we have our footings poured back filled we have our septic set up it's buried we have our drain field all buried up this is this is an incredible thing that's coming together right now I cannot believe I'm standing here right now cuz I actually feel like we can accomplish this not only get getting it all dried in before winter time I think but also I'm starting to see the vision come together and that's the most wildest thing next step up we have framing it's going to be wild this is where we're actually going to see the scale of this thing the magnitude of this thing make sure you guys follow hit that subscribe button share with your friends this is going to be the craziest series I have ever done and I'm excited to take you along with me in the meantime here's a video I think you might enjoy
