(15,540 characters)Lumber got delivered chaos with it brought wrong materials here for somebody else's job we don't have enough of it we don't have enough blocking to block off the I Jo across this pony wall there well we got a forklift delivered and now the forklift is stuck in the mud and um yeah it's a lot right now are you ready for the biggest part of this cabin build today is framing day if you haven't seen the previous episode we have our footings all poured they're all back filled we also set our septic tank we ran out utility lines we got power we got water it's all under the foundation let's go get our lumber man I knew this is going to happen I'm so glad I came right now uh I got the call from the delivery driver he's like hey uh the road is too tight for me to make it turn and there's an easier way in here I got to buckle up there's an easier way to get in here and uh I got to essentially come rescue this guy help him turn around cuz he went down like a private driveway in a fire exit Drive uh road so um got to go help him turn around and help him take the easy way in that's the unfortunate part about living in or building a place in you know the mountains essentially or in Hills is that deliveries sometimes there's multiple entrance and GPS will only give you one way in so uh here we are going doing a search your [Music] rescue there he is he's got so much lumber on board this is going to be ridiculous and he said he has a second truck uh I know it's a forklift thing but I I don't know we'll figure it out uh this is going to be a cram [Music] space what a sweet kid he uh I asked him how good are you backing up your semi he's like ah it's like all right let me get you a couple options uh gave him option A B and C I think C is the best one um I like we see will cause you to having to you know use your forklift a little bit further but I I think he'd rather use that and have an easier way to get out of here so yeah there's a lot of things that comes with building a house isn't it uh there's a second truck not as much uh load on it but uh second forklift more materials so I got to go meet him to kind of walk him through the easy way uh in here I guess I really don't know how we're going to deal this with two trucks in all these narrow roads but um every solution has a problem and my job is to keep the drivers optimistic [Music] truck is done that's a lot of stuff we got a second truck coming in okay I am counting my lucky stars I came today the guys that came on the trucks they were young guys they were not that well experienced they told me that they were really great but they were like dude I'm so glad you were here to motivate and watch our turns cuz if you weren't here we would have just turned around and and gone back to the shop uh say that we couldn't deliver it there's a lot that goes being your own builder or your own general contractor and boy oh boy is this a lesson that I'm learning right now so build something awesome now let's get back into this video all right so the guys are going to get started on the floor system first uh we are using an i joist system so it's going to be 9 1/2 in thick the ey joist are right over there those are the 9 and 1/2 in big old sucker of a beam they're going to be surrounded with a header on the sides uh put a seal plate base plate pressure treated and then we're going to start wrapping uh it up with uh this beefy eye Joy system and then in the the crawl space we're going to have a pony wall sitting on our Center footings so that's going to support all the rest of that structure building a pyramid essentially building a pyramid ground up baby [Music] so I'm glad I came today uh first of all there's a few questions I need to be answered here uh that there wasn't Clarity but also the lumber that was delivered last week that we work so hard try to make sure it gets up here now they're they screwed up they brought other people's stuff here they got most of our stuff but some other people's stuff so they brought a forklift and they're taking it away dang it things can't just go smoothly can they I guess that's whether you have like a general contract or a builder like you have to be there to solve all these little things that just are unforeseeable things and here we are learning the lesson the hard way [Music] day one framing went well uh going back up right now they're delivering the forklift um in order to start putting up walls later this week had to reserve on for a week uh with delivery and all that stuff it's like 2 Grand so you got to be really efficient when you're scheduling them the framers don't provide those forklifts uh second thing is um well I got to go and meet the delivery guy cuz they can't get it up there uh which is great and then the second thing is this is kind of weird but it's so hard to get contractors up there but framing is one of those things that people stay up for a while so it's no point to arrive 2 hours back home for these framers so one of the things we negotiated on The Price is I have to pay for 2 weeks stay at a motel over there uh for their cre so uh I got to go book some Motel stays um hopefully this rain doesn't continue on we got a storm from come that came through last night um when it rains the pours doesn't it all right that's for us right there all right let's see what this puppy can do I don't know this is just everything I feel is like going against us uh started framing rain starts pouring down supposed to rain only 25% and it's been R raining non-stop crazy crazy storm came in everything is just flooded down there it's like a damn pool Lumber got delivered chaos with it brought wrong materials here for somebody else's job uh fortunately at that moment I had all my materials and the guys calling me and they're like hey this Rim board that's supposed to go in front of here you know this stuff right there we don't have enough of it so they didn't send enough of that then we don't have enough blocking to block off the I across this pony wall there uh and then what else well we got a forklift delivered and now the forklift is stuck in the mud fortunately we don't need anything for today but at this point we have to wait off until the gr ground dries off so we can actually even use this thing that I just spent two grand on and not to mention I'm trying to find doging for my framers cuz that's what we kind of negotiated in the kind of deal and it's a small little town three little Motel all of them are booked out so I can't find the GU lodging it's 2 hours to drive back home for them and uh we got no materials long drive shitty weather and um yeah it's a lot right now I will try to be optimistic somewhat here um the good news is we have some flooring uh installed so that's coming together quite a bit a big lesson that I learned through this process to this part at least is when you get your plans and your Builder uh delivery place that you go through the supplies are you Lumber go through it with a fine tooth comb literally do an inventory checklist of every single board that's supposed to be here study your plans inside and out because what 's up happening is when the guys on the site they know what they're doing but um they can't control what got delivered what didn't and it's not like we can get a delivery tonight it's we have to wait till tomorrow to get it so um I guess that's a a valuable lesson that nobody will teach you unless you get to go through it so the rest of the materials still have not showed up yet so the guys aren't wasting any time they're getting as much fling in as possible and right now we're going to start working on the walls at least this side of the wall um they're supposed to be deliver the rest of stuff any minute now so they could F finish the perimeter and the rest of the floors but at this point when you have to deliver something 2 hours away Beggars cannot beat you users but look we have some flooring [Music] things are finally turning up after 3 days of chaos driveway is no longer making a slide and the rest of supplies are here we're back in business baby all right that rain really kicked our butt but today's a new day the guys are on fire we we got one wall this is the kitchen nice large space spacious uh kitchen uh the sink is going to be right here we're going to have to figure out some Aesthetics here this is going to be the wall that's going to continue on to here so we're going to have plenty big room giant Island right here dining room wall is up big 8ft dining room table going to be there these guys are getting after check out this beam this is the exterior wall four glass doors completely opening up we're going to get a big crew up here to manually raise this cuz we can't get a forklift up here um this will come up the back wall will come up and then we're going to try to get a uh a crane to come in from there to get our 60t long beam and set it over and then we can start doing the roof this is crazy you can actually see how this place is coming together and it's absolutely insane I mean look at that view you're just going to be sitting in the living room looking at that freaking View [Music] look what we just got going on here the walls are up I tried getting here early enough so I could help pick pick it up they said their crew is coming they're going to manually pick it up just cuz we don't have anywhere to put the forklift as you can see but uh the crew left I it sucks that I missed them so what they end up doing is they took this wall they brought the forklift down where this pile of wood is and they hoisted that up and then for this wall they brought it over here this is unreal this is so freaking sick to see uh the plan for today is they're going to start working on the rest of these walls right here um the beam is supposed to I have a a glue land beam that is 8 in wide 36 in deep and 60 ft long that's going to be the biggest hurdle to overcome it's supposed to be set uh tomorrow or sorry Wednesday but we need to figure out a way for them to get it up here for the way to get a crane up here um and that is what's making me losing sleep right now but that's tomorrow Alex's problem I guess it looks like when the concrete guys came these tie down straps were supposed to go along all these supporting beams parts so this one is off by almost an inch quarter this one's off by like 4 in about 6 in and another 4 in that's not going to work that's not going to pass our sheer inspection uh I got to call the concrete guy make sure he gets him out of here and figure out a remedy to make sure it struckle sound and uh make sure it makes our inspector happy [Music] I'm going to predict that the number one comment section it's going to be like I thought you're building this yourself here's a couple of reasons why I'm not building it myself look how intricate this is this is Art almost this is framing art in fact it's framing porn in a way uh there's no way I could pull that off with my skill set number two this is requiring a a crew I it's just me and even if I get an extra set of hands I still can't pull this off uh and number three I'm trying to help the guys and they like say no because I'm basically a liability I'm a walking liability so in the meantime all I could do is supervise to make sure that all the supplies are coming all the hardware coming and uh finding things that I'm hearing from them that somebody else didn't account for so essentially I'm a glorified Problem Solver inexperienced on it [Music] that is the world's record of building a 40t long wall That's 9 ft tall uh technically I guess if you have two buddies then you offer them beard you can bust it out like them in like 20 minutes we're going to start standing this up here in a little bit I think we're going to use all the help we can get [Music] is it uh on top or bottom pull it back oh there you go I'm glad I was here cuz they definitely need a fourth person to lift this wall up but right now they're working on the partition here so when you walk in there's like the mud room there's a laundry room there is the furnace room and uh what else is there uh uh washing uh well yeah said laundry room so washer laundry room closet mudroom primary bedroom and then this is the closet and the primary bathro bathroom not primary bathroom but the shared bathroom cuz there's going to be a door right there it's taking everything I got not to try to pick up some tools and do something but I'm practicing restraint cuz they're going to yell at me [Music] yep perfect good so what's interesting is you follow the plans and the plans kind of screw you over this is a tiny short door so we're going to raise it to about an 84 inch door which traditionally comes on the interior door but that's just I mean Architects and the rest of the crew they're just following instructions and um I'm glad we caught that all right guys that concludes part one of the A-frame framing build uh as you can see we have our dining room our kitchen uh this is the hallway giant ceilings these are 9 fo tall ceilings our bedrooms our water closets our furnace rooms our mud room everything is here this as far as we can get make sure you tune in for episode two or part two uh where they're going to basically it's the hardest part of this entire build uh three Miracles have to happen on that video we're going to have to get a 3ft wide by 60 ft long beam up here narrow Mount roads terrible terrible roads uh long trailers I don't know if all three Miracles are going to line up but make sure you tune in next time and see if I end up um fainting from all this no no no no flat flat flat you got to flatten it out more no nope nope it's tilting no no no no no no no [Music]
