Ralph Returns! Destroyed 6L80 Comes Out Using Questionable Methods...(72 LSA Monte Carlo Build)

What happens here

With the transmission now supported by the improvised setup, the presenter proceeds to disconnect the various external components. This includes the starter (which was already mostly disconnected), electrical connections, and the shifter cable. He points out his custom-fabricated shifter cable mount, which was a necessity from a previous swap. He uses various sockets and a ratchet to accomplish these tasks. The last steps involve removing the remaining bellhousing bolts.

Goal: Disconnect all external connections and unbolt the transmission from the engine

Tools and materials

  • Electrical Wires — Providing power and signals to the transmission
  • Hex Bits — Removing hex head bolts
  • Ratchet Tekton — Turning sockets to loosen/tighten bolts
  • Shifter Cable — Controlling gear selection
  • Sockets — Unbolting components
  • Starter — A component connected to the transmission's bellhousing
  • Wrenches — Turning bolts in tight spaces

miscellaneous things unbolted from here i don't know i don't know it looks really hard that's what she said i can't say it running joke in the very early days i would make that's what she said jokes that she would go no to you be funny she wouldn't say it this time back when i did this swap in 2017 uh me and like one of my friends built this whole car in like a month did the whole swap including making a new transmission tunnel and everything i just cut up the original cable mount and like you know cut this leg off and moved it over and bolted it onto that and it works fairly well enough to make it work funny the thing is it did work with the gate alignment for set up for a 4l80 sort of but uh we weren't exactly sure because the transmission in here was like half blown up so just to eliminate that that the shifter was in in between gates uh we took the gate plate out so that shifter in there just it just flaps whatever you could accidentally bump this thing into park going 100 miles an hour what did you need i needed a 14 millimeter shallow socket in the middle drawer it's not gonna be in the little one yeah yeah so the shifter is basically just a fancy pto cable for now we're still going to manual swap this car we're just getting it ready for race week now yep this actually technically is 9 16 but this it's kind of the same as a 14. some of you guys probably know this but a lot of you may not think about it you can take these little like hex bits here and get a quarter inch socket and then use them on a ratchet same thing for the ratchet wrench too if you're in a bit of a tight spot you can do that damn you have to take like the whole car apart for this pretty much yeah see there's like nine million holes in here from the different configurations so i actually labeled this one 6l because there's i noticed that yeah this is like 6l8090 hole there's a freaking turbo 400 hole there's a muncie hole there's a lot of holes for a lot of configurations and the same crossmember gets used for all of it i've just modded it every time and i got to use these weird spacers because of the frame rail this the stamped old car nonsense it's freaking oh you already did that yep this thing's ready to come out i just want to practice good nut discipline and put these back together where's the other knife right there i found it that's what i did so you can see these original two holes would have been for like the turbo 400 and muncie and one of these holes i think the back…
