sometimes you gotta think outside the box or on the floor are you ready so we also wrapped the bumpers on this thing we got some tips and tricks for you for that coming up here if rapping doesn't pertain to you you can just skip through that to the exhaust part but i know some of you guys want to see that so here it is so you put it on the middle and then you stretch it out to the outsides yep and that way you have all this excess to recess into the areas that you need to without over stretching and overheating it yeah because the bumper pulls back in this way if if you pulled it tight the whole way around then this would already be tight you would have to stretch it to get it to come back into here yeah the less stretching the better what do you do when you get to a situation like this where you got a little bit of a bunch up and up uh point here take a little heat to it and relax the material and then hold it off like this to keep a little bit of tension on it and then it all lay in there everything seems fine and dandy until you get to a spot like this and then you start to panic the novice anyway so this new 2080 3m stuff has a protective peel layer on it i've never seen before wow that does look really good yeah super nice dude i could just even see your reflection in the gopro that's not something the old stuff did wow this is this makes the car look so much cooler i can already tell the grand unveil all right let's see it oh yeah that makes the car so what's your strategy going to be on the front one single piece right in the top first and then relax everything and bring it all down and then once i get to here we'll relief cut it lay this in and then bring the top down so i have like a real small eight to sixteenth inch seam right there hey you won't even notice that nope it'd be about impossible to stretch that over and get that to be flat a lot of fingering and stuff once you get into this area because there's the way the bumper comes down here and there just wants to bunch up send me your cars that looks so much better it's freaking ridiculous i've wanted to do this for years never never had it done but that 2083m stuff looks so much better than the old stuff print install anything from commercial vehicles to nascar to emsa show cars wall wraps you can get a hold of me at jwfsinc gmail.com and it's j william film solutions well hell yeah can we do some wall wrap stuff in here if anybody has any ideas leave some in the comments see if we can go up something cool for this the bumpers are wrapped looks great and all uh justin wanted to hear it so i fired it up and notice the fuel leak cool i'm gonna have to pull the feed and the return out and make new lines it's just a return that's leaking but i don't want to have them both leak at some point so i'm gonna change them all uh the line that goes from the regulator to the fuel rail was leaking when i brought this thing back from pennsylvania and first turned it on so that tells me that if the feed isn't leaking now that it could so we're to change that transdrx showed up i had to build it and the instructions were pretty funny check this out attention please turn valve to position closed before you zeog nice it was also just completely painted like the first time i pumped it it broke this uh paint seal look at these these directions round feet the gasket that's a washer they call it the gasket the oil ump mint mnt come on screw that's what you say when you're trying to put it on partner name they miss m don't exceed the tated capacity load it firmly on the center of the jack must be enough holding center so the cylinder can operate regularly what the heck is that keep the removal parts to avoid rusted bro i don't what it's done i'm gonna need it to get the gas tank out also going to space up the crossmember a little bit because you can see how far that transmission slopes back i thought i figured out driveline angle when i first did the swap five years ago but maybe i didn't or maybe something got lost in translation when it went from the 90 to the 80 because i originally built this for the 6l90 so we're going to space up the crossmember which will also leave more room for exhaust under here two birds one stone will do that and then do the exhaust so it's by the way better ground clearance all that stuff so let's get this uh get these fuel lines out get this gas tank out of here some of you vlgs might remember back the first time i went to test drive this thing when i brought it to texas from pennsylvania i tried to do my donuts and it would cut out on me when i slide it sideways and i didn't know why well when i did this swap i had a handful of friends help me when we got down to the wire because we were trying to make it for drag week 2017. uh somebody else wired the fuel pump and i noticed that this wire was pinched over here now i pulled on a little bit and it broke this just happened last night and i thought to myself i bet that's why i did that because when i would turn i turned to the left which would shove the gas tank to the right and cut that wire that's why it was cutting out i am pretty sure so i'm gonna fix that too when i first put this thing together it had fuel pressure issues because uh rtv from the sending unit on top squished out fell in the tank got sucked up into the sock and was clogging the pump sock couldn't figure out what the heck was going on ended up being that i was terrified that it was a similar situation i'm pretty sure it was just that so i'm gonna get these uh these two bolts out of here drop this tank with my new ching chong trans jack and you like my custom painted diff cover that i did when i was like 18 you know it was already off of like oh screw i'm just gonna paint silver and put a sticker on it don't laugh at me actually yeah you can laugh at me it seemed cooler in my head when i did it but you know now it's just a piece of the pass i've never done this in the air before it's always been uh on the ground last time i did this wasn't even in a building i did it on the ground in front of my garage i don't know where the center of gravity of this tank is i don't know how touchy the jacket is because i've never used it so uh we're just doing all kinds of new things here today okay so it's not not that heavy it's not too bad i should be able to balance this if i lower it well enough okay i can see all the stuff on top of the tank now i'm gonna have to get in light in there and start disconnecting things i believe when this was built the tank was laying on the ground so it should have enough slack in it to get low-ish i just don't know how low that is well i got the tank out and i found out that this wire that was chopped that somebody ran through here i don't even know who did that uh this was for the sending unit not the pump i thought that i got lucky and figure out that's why i had a problem it's not but i dumped out almost all the gas tank and it barely got to like an inch to the top of a five gallon bucket so i think that the fuel is probably just low and sloshing around it was also really old really dark colored and it's almost like thicker consistency than gasoline should be based on how it fell on the floor after it came out of this an9 that looks like it's older than me i remember where it came from now it came out of some other car and just happened to be long enough to use for this it's been in the car since i had a big block it's also very possible the inside of this line is just degraded and kind of clogging up a little bit too if the inside is bad enough to leak through the this braided stainless part it's probably bad enough to cause a blockage on the inside i'm going to take the pump out check the sock maybe i'll take this out too probably will just to see what the inside tank looks like if there's any crud in there i just want to make sure the pump's okay and all good nothing is clogging the sock again because i might as well do that while the tank is out see what's going on in here can i get it out of here is another question in itself i think this is a 400 pump if i recall not sure if that's just wet or if that's junk in there so i've been doing all kinds of stuff under here one changing the pinion yoke over to a 1350 put the new drive shaft in all that fun stuff tank is completely out um got all the thingies pulled out of it because you saw me do that i forgot it's been so long since i filmed the clip i kind of forgot what i filmed when i didn't uh i spaced the cross member up a little bit and made things for that um on the other side of the wall and i'm dropping the pan to put new fluid in and i saw something that i thought you guys would think is neat this little pan donut magnet thing when i dropped the pan was over here you can see where it used to be i pushed it back before showing you but i was like why is it over there that's weird and then i remembered the trunk that this transmission came out of got freaking clapped hard from the side so we got hit hard enough to kick this magnet all the way over there like that's not really easy to move i think i think that's that's pretty impressive hopefully the rest of the inside of the transmission is okay too i guess we'll see so we're doing some errand running now figured i would uh bring the camera and show you guys a little bit um this place is called sri performance and it's basically like a freaking warehouse of old nascar parts so we're gonna go in there and get some um get some stuff let me know if you like this video format where it's kind of spaced out over a longer period of time and more things get done as opposed to just focusing a video on one specific thing so speak up in the comments let me know what you think let's head on in here and get some stuff this is a bunch of headers and radiators in here rear ends pit boxes pretty much everything i don't even know what that is it's just like it's pretty cool making some progress on this boomtube stuff here i couldn't stand messing with them under the car like trying to figure out where the x-pipe's supposed to be and how the angles would come out and it's just it's all heavy it's over my head it was just not working well so i thought there's got to be a better way to do this second thought check out this shirt i see titties stapleton autoworks.com they are live right now go get one we'll show you more of them at the end of the video but i just wanted to clear up because i'm wearing it now so i thought there's got to be a better way to do this i measured the stick out point on both sides using the tires for reference about where i want this to be and i measured where the crossmember was in relation to where the back of the boom tube cut will need to be and i transfer those measurements to the floor because all this is going to be flat anyways we got 64 inches from side to side that's what i want and the cross member was like however many inches from the exit point here to where i drew this line then i took this piece separately held it up under the car figured out how far back the x needed to be the from the cross member for the pipes to be able to get underneath it and stay flat and landed right here and then i oriented the boom tubes exactly where i want them to be to get the most amount of boom tubage because you know we don't want to angle it like that because then we cut we cut them in half that's not fun we want the most amount of this as possible and i also want them to stick out right um right by the back tire so i got them lined up right where i want them so theoretically they will get chopped like this leaving the most amount of meat by just barely catching this corner here which leaves me to conclude i need pipes that fit in here exactly to do exactly what i want to do it's that easy and to think i was messing with this for i don't know over the last couple days cumulatively probably looking at it getting frustrated and doing something else a couple hours sometimes you got to think outside the box or on the floor once i get the pipes that are made for that i'll put them in tack them in so that the boom tubes and the x are fixed they will go under the car and then i will worry about trimming these to mate with the headers because the headers kind of stick out at different places a little bit different the key instrument to the sound is the x and those so those are going to be symmetrical they have fixed points exiting the car they need to be perfect so you have your fixed to point b your fixed point a being the headers and the rest of it gets filled in the middle which would be these pipes boom let's get her done oh also i don't know if you noticed uh we did a little bit more organization in the shop i stuck some of those up there old world of wheels things when i had the escalade in there in pittsburgh way back in the day and you know i made this quick little hose rack extension cord rack thing just a two by four with some pieces of metal i bent on the back and screwed under the wood and then that way i didn't have to put these hooks into here and this could also be moved if i wanted to taking bits and pieces out of the shop one annoyance at a time so now i'm gonna go get some pipes to fit in there uh there's a bunch of scrap outside i'm gonna see if i can find some short little pieces cut them and see if uh maybe i can make something work here well kind of got carried away in a sense but boom marking everything out on the floor worked perfectly got it exactly where i want it everything is good the headers don't come out of the exact same space so i had to reuse some nasty old pipe from the old exhaust to get it to reach but it's connected it's on there i got held up with the ratchet straps for now um i gotta put the new fuel lines in ones that we got made put the gas tank back in and we can fire this thing up and at least hear what it sounds like i still gotta make mouse for it but i'm gonna do that after because the exhaust is just kind of it's not clamped or welded anywhere yet it's just tacked in there to get the angle but i want to hear it before i do anything else because that's what i want to do and if you don't agree with that you can suck it i don't want to hear it make sounds do you want to hear it make sounds yes what are you doing right now which shirts my favorite shirt yeah these are pretty sweet do you guys think we should use this gmc looking logo on other stuff it's time to turn it on are you ready and find out how loud it's gonna be and what we're gonna have to deal with when we drive this thing around yeah hold up i'm gonna hook the battery back up something i need to fix when this thing got wired if the battery is hooked up the ecu has power all the time i didn't wire the fuse box one of my friends did while i was working on something else so i don't know how that happened yeah i hope to figure that out and we got to open the door because it'll get incredibly stinky in here very quickly it's not very big in here we'll see if it has fuel pressure can you go point the camera on the pressure gauge on the regulator right up here see if there's any leaks when i turn the key did it make pressure yeah anything leak i know didn't see anything i think we're good to start it are you ready yes cold starts are loud it's loud do you want to rev it do it light wraps the engine is the edge is still cold so don't rub the crap out of it just a little bit is it fun give a bigger one you guys think it's going to be fun because i i think it could be a lot of fun that is that is really cool is it stinky in here no it smells very good smells like my grandpa's barn of carbon monoxide yep ever since i read about rick mass and now i'm paranoid about carbon monoxide leave in the comments if you know who rick mast is i feel like probably most of you guys don't if you don't look it up look how pretty it looks in the sunlight it does that black bumper is so freaking sweet i need to get new headlights for it because that one's all messed up on the inside and do a bunch of other things so clean it really bad yeah once we we still got to hang the exhaust weld it all up paint it and then we can take it over to the garage shop and cut these pieces and send them down because they know how to do that real good does anybody else mock something up just to hear it first for that extra last little bit of motivation before they actually finish all the things they're supposed to finish because i do that all the time are you sitting out there you look so pissed you like literally went to that corner of the cage this is so loud yeah we moved uh moved ruger from his corner out of respect to his ears which would have been this would have been blasting right hit his head he probably would have gotten hit with a sonic boom and his head would have exploded we have more shop dog shirts we have smalls now yes we never we were out of smalls we got more we got all the sizes all the way up to 6x only though we got three six xl shirts we also have the shirts that we're wearing right now i see titties huge shout out to the guys at ict billet who are fans of the channel and thought that that joke that we made way back in building uncle rob was funny we asked them about doing a shirt like this for race week and during race week some of you guys remember this and the guy was like oh dude that's hilarious do it i want one so we did it it's got uncle george on the front it says suck it f par for the course probably one of my favorite shirts we've ever had um moth not included stapleton autoworks.com check it out get yourself one also the next episode of monte carlo this will have the exhaust finishing up we're going to pull the grill out put the heat exchanger back in um all that stuff get this thing actually like ready to drive that's going to be coming up next and we're going to do a full excavation video of the darrell waltrip gmc astro hauler over at the garage shop where to go through all those boxes see what's in there i'm really excited about that what are you excited about i think it'll be cool to see all the old stuff this is sitting there forever history is cool oh we also got these the good wrench style pit crew shirts except not this is the displacer that happened to be sitting here terrible presentation we're not we're not sales people here we're just people in a garage who sells shirts to survive also if you notice the big pile of rowdy sitting here we have some cool announcements coming up with that we're doing some stuff with those guys now so stay tuned for specifics but yeah you guys be able to get your hands on some of these with merch coming up so pretty excited we need to fix these it bothers me yeah that'll be in the next video too undoing what we did these this thing like burned out the led burned out so now we gotta put the old light bulb back in that's something that we need to be able to drive this thing to oh yeah did you show the gas tank oh yeah we painted the gas tank orange to match all the other stuff it looks good yeah because if you look at the frames on dale earnhardt's cars they were all painted that that color and when you look under the car you can see it the fuel cell is painting that color so we're like you know what we'll paint that while it's out just to you know give it more pizzazz it'd be really cool we incorporated it in here too yeah yeah we need to stapleton autoworks.com check it out hit that subscribe button to see more boom tube stuff more exhaust testing things like that we're glad you're here it's time to take over the world let's go
