What happens here

This project involves a comprehensive upgrade and repair of a classic car's front end, including replacing old components with new Hella LED headlights and properly installing the heat exchanger and transmission cooler. It also details the unboxing and test fitting of new Aero wheels and addresses body alignment issues to accommodate them. The project emphasizes correcting previous 'haphazard' work and ensuring all components are installed correctly for optimal performance and appearance.

what does it look like how do these cup tires work for straight line traction on the street if you have horsepower so here we have the heat exchanger some uh shine warfare and phofer shots that's the one sucky thing about working on old cars is they're just like no matter what you do ralph continued in the last video you saw us fire this thing up for the first time with the boom tubes but they're unfinished they're not trimmed they're not welded they're not hung it was just laying there so we're going to finish that we're tying up some other loose ends on the car like getting the heat exchanger on there for the lsa we're gonna have to pull the blower we have to pull the grill out relocate the transmission cooler because when i put this in here years and years ago i didn't take the grill out to do it because i was lazy and there's enough room in here to have both but with the hood latch on here the heat exchanger will not fit in here and there's really nowhere else to put it because there's not that much frontal area on this thing so we're going to have to stack them or get creative with it somehow easier to do with the grille off changing headlights i had some that don't fit in there i'm not going to keep missing making holes so it's going to get some different ones that do fit oh you like this jank fan yeah i like those zip ties the way it's so tight on there yeah we're gonna have to fix that too i wanna laugh on that and announce it to everybody no it's it's okay this was like last minute drag week stuff four years ago this fan is actually left over here from the big block which had an electric water pump and no thermostat so it ran really cool all the time didn't need much fancy uh something that's not there anymore i don't even know yeah something not not too sure and we have to redo this should anyways the alternator wire should not be like this walmart speaker power wire but it's the only stuff i had laying around we were out of time once again all the reason to not butcher things together at the last minute because you deal with the repercussions of that for years like we are now years don't do it do it right we can use the old fans from uncle rob on this thing remember the two that we had zipped in the radiator and we took out i don't remember where i put them they're in the box over there with the random uncle rob stuff yeah so we'll put those on here they'll do just fine they kept uncle rob cool i'll keep this thing cool too what is that peach mango oh that pink koozie fooled me we got something cool going on with rowdy energy if you're not familiar with that that's uh kyle busch's deal so check them out on social media we're gonna be doing a giveaway with them soon and license plates we're messing with license plates and vinyl cutter stuff it's gonna go in the front of uncle george but we think we might make these legit because it's funny and it matches the icy teddy shirt this edge is in danger of being chipped also so i'm just gonna throw some tape on top of here great precision yep so we got these bolts up here and if i remember correctly there's a few down here also that are harder to get to i don't know if you can see them i like how old cars are just so haphazardly put together with nutserts and nuts and bolts and self-tappers and like the freaking screws that hold the headlights in they just look like freaking deck screws that you get at lowe's or something and that's just factory stuff back then is that the same size [Music] i don't either it feels like it might be damn it it barely doesn't fit you're gonna need to use a regular ratchet or a ratchet wrench maybe you should just pop out like that i just didn't want to scratch paint good job you ain't got no face lieutenant dan well this looks weird this thing is all freaking bent to crap i don't remember it ever being like that but it looks like i could paint it that way i don't think you're strong enough to yank that grill hard enough to bend this thing like this are you yeah i totally did that i know you didn't do that i just don't know how that happened i don't know if it's always been like that or what i had the heat exchanger mounted here before when i had a fiberglass hood on this thing when i took that off i wanted to put the stock one back on because it was flat you know because nascars don't have four inch cowl hoods and put the factory hood hinge back in because the pins were a pain in the butt and to do this i had to take the heat exchanger out which didn't you know i just put this back on because the car wasn't functional yet i was like i'm not going to mount this yet but we're going to unbolt this here there up there just a couple self tappers i think we can do this without actually disconnecting the cooler lines to not make a mess that's my hope so here we have the heat exchanger and i know you're going to ask about this i did this the logo on here i think it was one piece of paper that i just covered up while i sprayed the white part of the ls like i just i printed out the freaking logo on a piece of printer paper and then i use an exacto knife to cut it out and make a stencil to which i spray painted on here pretty simple although at the time when i did this it was like earth shattering to some people who couldn't seem to figure out how i did it yeah the first time i did it i did it on this side which doesn't let the heat exchanger fill up with water the whole way because the port's here so it was technically upside down so i'd take it out and redo it but this was the original heat exchanger in the escalade i think it's actually an aftermarket one for a gt500 or something i don't really know it's been so long but good job yeah we got figure out a way to get this thing in here maybe we could put the transmission cooler below it at an angle a little bit or slightly behind it if this gets mounted roughly where the transmission cooler used to be like they kind of trade spots a little bit because there's no room for it in front of in front of the hood latch mechanism yeah no don't even try because it doesn't fit there it's just not going to work so there's not quite enough room to jam both of them together it's very very close but it would be the heat exchanger we butted up against this um we just kind of mocked it up with four arms real quick but i'm thinking the radiator position has some adjustability within its own cradle and there is no shortage of room to be had here so if we can scoot the radiator back a little bit we might be able to get enough room to sandwich these things together and still fit them behind this without the possibility of this rubbing a hole in the heat exchanger in the name of doing things in the right way just gonna get rid of that old jank fan set up now get all that out of there and it turns out the nuts that were holding the freaking wax straps on there to hold that fan on we're taking up adjustability space in here so now we can actually move this back a good bit farther than it was before it may be enough room now to fit both of them in there side by side i'm hoping maybe we could put the heat exchanger up high and have the transmission cooler behind it but stick down a little bit so that at least half of it gets clean air that's not already heat passed through a heat exchanger i don't know we will see oh yeah i think there's going to be enough room now yeah oh yeah we have all kinds of room i got i'm holding the bolt now can you pull the hood latch on the bumper to make sure it moves freely that'll hold the buffer right where my nose is right here no it's in front of the bumper yeah right there now we know it's going to fit how they will get sandwiched in there and mounted and all of that stuff i don't know how that's gonna work yet i'm gonna have to sit here and figure that out oh but we're making progress i'm gonna cut this dingle dong thing out of here too we don't need that just grinding away here sometimes for these more creative projects i just have to stare at it and mess with things and figure stuff out and when i have to do that logan will go do something else that is necessary elsewhere that's how we function well so that's what i've been doing zoning in with my headphones kind of hungry but not hungry enough to eat dinner i eat these things in the shop all the time they're level one bars by first form it's the best tasting freaking protein bar i swear you will ever find and they actually fill you up like i love these things chocolate crunch and birthday cake are my favorite birthday cake tastes like those frosted animal cracker things kind of yeah big fan of these i'm not getting paid to say this but i do make like six dollars if you buy a box of this which basically just goes to me uh buying these for myself and the protein i use for the gym too so if you do that you want to try them out check them out if not i don't care i'm just sharing because i'm about to eat one anyway and i'm gonna fill you in on what i'm doing here i got the heat exchanger almost mounted i got it mounted on the bottom um i just painted these i'm gonna put them there [Applause] like that sort of screw them into the core support right there pretty much got the wire the coolant lines hooked up to the little bilge pump thingy that's left over in there none of that's done very well ripped out the old fan i don't anticipate this thing having a supercharger for very long honestly if you've been paying attention thus far you'll know that i really really want to get an sb2 engine for this even if it's not an sb2 there's a very high possibility that i will throw together some type of nasty 18 small block chevy with a carburetor yes i would go backwards i would get rid of the fuel injection and put a carburetor back on this thing because it makes the right noises you just you know what i mean you have a fuel-injected car in it this is like when the rpms come back down it it really carries and just drags out when you have a carburetor car it's like right as soon as you shut the carburetor it's just i don't know if you hear that again you can rewind just be making sound effects but you leave in the comments if you know what i'm talking about with the without making me sound like an idiot even more i just want cool noises i want a visceral driving experience it needs a stick shift it needs a carburetor and i think this power plant will be better suited than something else but for right now it's in here so we're going to make it work but we're not going to spend a ton of time making components of this car that are not going to be permanent um permanent i guess but like this part of the exhaust everything from here back to hanging everything that's all gonna be really nice because that's gonna stay that way no matter what engine goes in the car if it's a small block sp2 whatever that's staying there but heat exchanger transmission cooler probably not going to stay there so we're not going to you know overdo that now i am filling up the heat exchanger coolant line thingy with bob thingy bob it's fun you think it's oh it's taking stickers it comes off the top okay let's take it it comes out the top for like 20 minutes that's pretty much what we're doing so i'm gonna turn the key and run the pump because i think it comes on with key power i also need to make sure that the pump actually still comes on i don't know if it will i don't know if it runs with key power or if it runs while the engine is on i i can't remember it should be if the key is on i think so the fact that it's not running now doesn't bode well for my hypothesis does it i guess i'll just keep filling it and see if i can figure out why it doesn't work later look what came in the mail today do you know what those are store the explorer you're supposed to talk to the screen wheels what are they wheels what kind of wheels arrow wheels really cool wheels that's what they are let's open them i don't have anything to cut it with do you want something to cut it with okay here i was holding those there for like 10 seconds comedic effect let me know if that was funny for the record i didn't even ask her to open this she just started digging in i can't contain myself oh my god ah what does it look like what does it look like black like my soul that is a wide mopo oh yeah night oh yeah that is the coolest 120 dollar wheel you will ever find hell yes okay i think even though there's not tires on them i think we have to take some wheels off and put them on there just because don't you think so yeah aaron over at the garage shop said he has a couple mickey thompson drag radials that should be close to the size that we need for these that we can test fit and if they fit he said i can keep him i'll sort of some more he'll replace him for the build that he's using them for it's pretty sweet so we're gonna get to go over there in a little bit here try that out which i am super pumped about i was gonna take the boom tubes over there and cut them too but i realized last night that i tacked one of these things crooked and i need to fix it before we do anything else you can see uh if you can tell this one's got a little bit of an angle to it it's kind of wonky it's not very noticeable but it's yeah you can see it better here it's like that the other one's not like that i have to cut these tacks and turn it a little bit stickers stickers we need valve stems too just thought about that i think we're ready for some tireless mock-up i'm ready i'm ready also we got some new headlights and led stuff for the front that was fast yeah it was shout out to hella fast ella fast a guy with a monte carlo on instagram follower uh just dm me all this really useful information about the led conversion he did on his car i didn't ask for this he just told me he sent me videos he explained everything he showed me how well it works in the dark he gave me part numbers for everything paris the motorhead thank you for the info on the lights that is textbook bringing value to a situation people freaking dm me like man can you follow me back follow him back because he came out of nowhere with value to my life that's valuable information that i did not have to seek out because he came to me with that experience and that explanation so if you want to get the attention of somebody who has a lot of people trying to get their attention bring value to their life just like this guy did life lesson to you this little project car tidbit before you approach somebody try to think how can i make this interaction beneficial to them and it will work much better that's something i use personally when it comes to networking and reaching out to people who are beyond me levels ahead of me i figure out how can i help that person so yeah for example aaron at the garage shop he you know he's way beyond me kind of like a lot of stuff with like social media you are friending and following all these people that you don't know but what are you doing friending them or following them like what's your purpose yeah you have a purpose you need a purpose right yeah you should if people are following or friending someone that they follow the content of the purpose of that is they want to connect with someone who brings them value but flip the script that person can't connect with every single person that wants to talk to them so you have to differentiate yourself from that crowd by bringing value to them every single person back that you followed you wouldn't be able to see any of the people you actually knows stuff in your feed yeah exactly think about it in that aspect like like it just doesn't make sense yeah useful material aside we can expand on topics like that if you want to leave a comment we might do a whole whole video dedicated to that well let's toss a couple of these wheels on just to see what they look like current lineup staples on autoworks.com check it out oops the pumpkin with the alabama defense keep them safe alabama defense pumpkin there's another guy on instagram that i got the wheel specs from and why i decided on 15 by 10 instead of eight because he ran i think his name is rupert 70 15 by tens on his car and i thought the front stance looked really good so that's what motivated me to do that i think they'll have like a more aggressive look it will might need bigger uh bigger lug nuts and different studs for these cool we have to make them yellow anyway yeah it looks like these are about the same width as the wheels that were on the back already yeah these are gonna need a bigger lug nuts most likely i i could see it in my head that it looks really cool like from back here but oops my bad i can see it in my head but it does like you know we need we need some tires dale let's uh let's throw the back throw two of those in the back elvis and go on over to the garage shop and see if we can't throw some tires on there i'd like to get longer wheel studs too because that would help with the look probably need stronger wheel studs in the back anyway especially if we have drag radials well we're in here at the garage shop gotta put some tires on what i carried it and he could have gotten on me see him it's a daddy long legs yeah kill it no i'm gonna pick it up with something well let's just try not to mess up um any of jorah waltrip's cars while we put these tires on interesting size comparison to what we're going on here is a 275 60 15 to a cup car tire it's a hair narrower not very much narrower smaller diameter which is what we need because these giant goodyears will not fit inside there without hogging the fenders out and that's not something that i'm gonna do to that car so yeah i know we're not cutting that car up how do these cup tires work for straight line traction on the street if you have horsepower if you have too much horsepower it's going to be after you can burn them off but i've seen a lot of people use them on street rods so they don't poke very well not naturally no you can persuade them so entire shop up the street had one of those air bazooka things and they got them on freaking sweet looking god would you just look at it got the right amount of bulge all right now we get to find out how they fit on the back test fit round two let's go do you want me to do it or do you want to do it um that's kind of heavy okay oh boy this is like you look at it would you just look at it i'm just looking at it definitely body yeah we're gonna have to adjust that when he and my friend bill put poly body mounts on this car six years ago mostly bill because i didn't know what i was doing back then you're supposed to do one side at a time well we didn't re-slash bill didn't read the directions unbolted all of them changed them all bolted it back down well the body moved on the frame so ever since then the body has been shifted to the passenger side just a little bit so this fender side is touching the tire now because of that whereas if we put the other one on the other side there would be a nice gap here so we're gonna have to loosen the body mounts and push the body back over to where it's supposed to be before we put the other tire on that side i want to test fit this one on the front even though it's a drag radial because we'll be able to see if that size tire fits on the front so i can order the same thing in a non-drag radial form and then we'll have the same size tire all the way around because that's what i want i don't want bigger ones in the back from the front because that's not how nascars are well guys we got a little bit of a problem here the front wheel will hit this here to turn if it's all the way on the ground it can't turn maybe we can stay with the 275 front tire but get one that has less aspect ratio so it's a little bit narrower which is not really what i want i'd like for all four of them to be the same but the wheels are only 120 dollars each the car makes 700 something horsepower i'll just have these as a drag…
