Kitchen Sink Drain Repair (Easy DIY Fix)
What happens here
After cutting the tailpiece, inspect the cut edge. Often, plastic pipes have a slightly rough lip or burr from the manufacturing or cutting process. This rough edge can prevent the rubber washer from forming a perfect seal, leading to leaks. Use a utility knife or razor blade to carefully shave off any rough edges or imperfections around the circumference of the cut. This creates a smooth surface, ensuring the rubber washer sits flush and creates a secure, leak-free connection. Once the tailpiece is smoothed, insert its prepared end into the basket strainer and hand-tighten the nut.
Goal: Ensure a perfect seal for the tailpiece connection by smoothing the cut edge.
