Kitchen Sink Drain Repair (Easy DIY Fix)
What happens here
With the tailpiece now correctly sized and installed, assemble the rest of the P-trap. Connect the J-bend of the P-trap to the tailpiece, ensuring the nuts and rubber washers are properly seated. Then, connect the horizontal extension of the P-trap to the wall drain pipe. Hand-tighten all connections first to ensure everything is aligned and can be adjusted as needed. Once all parts are in place and hand-tightened, use channel locks for the final tightening of all nuts. Give each nut a firm turn, making sure all connections are very secure but without overtightening the plastic, which could cause damage.
Goal: Completely assemble the new P-trap and secure all connections.
