Helping My Neighbor Install a 50-Gal Rheem Gas Water Heater
What happens here
Apply blue Teflon tape to the threads of the expansion tank and then cover it with pipe dope to ensure a watertight seal. Next, attach a ProPress fitting to the expansion tank. The expansion tank is then mounted to the side of the water heater using a 'Hold Rite QuickStrap Universal Expansion Tank Mounting Bracket'. Secure the tank to the bracket using worm clamps, tightening them with a drill and a 5/16 inch socket. Use 'Knipex' bolt cutters to trim off any excess length from the worm clamps.
Goal: Securely attach the expansion tank to the water heater.
