What happens here
Install a CPVC relief line. CPVC is designed for hot water applications and is a common choice for relief lines. Apply 'FlowGuard Gold' primer and glue to the ends of the CPVC pipe and fittings (elbows) before connecting them. The relief line should run from the water heater's temperature and pressure relief (T&P) valve, direct the flow downwards, and extend towards a floor drain. Do not glue the final connection to the floor drain; instead, allow the pipe to rest just above it. This ensures that any discharge from the T&P valve is safely directed without creating a closed system to the drain, which could violate code.
Goal: Safely install the temperature and pressure relief drain line.
