Load some spackling paste onto your 1-inch flexible spackle knife. Apply the spackle to all nail holes on the trim by pressing it onto the hole a couple of times to ensure it's filled, then wipe it clean with the knife. If you encounter any nails that are still protruding or creating a 'volcano' effect (a raised bump), use a nail set tool to gently tap them below the surface of the trim before applying spackle. Allow the spackle to dry completely. Once dry, lightly sand the spackled areas with your medium sanding sponge until they are perfectly smooth and flush with the trim surface. This step should be performed before any caulking to avoid damaging wet caulk.

Goal: Fill and smooth all nail holes in the trim.

so here we go so the stock like method is very simple but it's just a matter of just getting enough spatula on there and fill that hole precedent I like to just take and put it on there press it a couple times and then wipe it clean with the knife once that dries I'm going to just lightly go over it with my Sam sanding sponge so they go around spatter all this stuff it's always easy easy associating a door jamb just to remove the hinges and the doors always remove all that type of hardware and stuff and begin working with a clean slate I haven't removed it right now because I'm just shooting this video this is going to go long and just Sparkle all these things and here's another trick if you run into any clothes when you're sparkling where you actually feel the nail there's a nail set that we actually use some spring tools right here I'll show you this nail set you have a nail that's sticking out you'll just take for instance this one right here just going to set this on there just pull the tool and just knock it you know actually just not that nail aunts always keep one of these things in my pocket to set in and nails that weren't driven in all the way
