Built-In Camping Grill with Cooler Cart

What happens here

To allow the grill compartment to slide horizontally for easier access to the cooler below, channels need to be created. Mark the desired path for the channels on the wood frame. Use a circular saw to make parallel cuts and a multi-oscillating tool (if necessary) to clean out the waste, forming a groove. Then, acquire 1/4 inch C-channels (aluminum or steel) from a hardware store, cut them to the appropriate length, drill mounting holes, and slide them into the prepared wooden channels. Secure them with small screws.

Goal: Enable the raised grill compartment to slide out for better cooler access.

Tools and materials

  • 1/4 inch C-channel — Creating the sliding rails
  • Circular Saw DeWalt — Cutting grooves for the C-channels
  • Drill DeWalt — Drilling pilot holes for screws and mounting holes in C-channels
  • Multi-Oscillating Tool — Cleaning out cut channels
  • Pencil — Marking cut lines
  • Screws — Securing the C-channels
  • Tape Measure — Measuring cuts

hardware would attach now one problem is in order for me to access the cooler better I needed this part to also slide out a little bit I marked exactly where the channels would run cut it out using my skill saw and a little multi-tool then I went down to the hardware store and I found where the metal section is this quarter-inch C Channel and I thought to myself that we could maybe fashion this in a way that would act like a slide after it lifted so I trimmed it to size drill the hole from both the top and the bottom slid it right in to where the hardware would sit underneath the top and I secured it with four screws each the wheels need to have
