Clean Carpet with Proper Technique — Clean the Carpet
Part of project
Carpet Cleaning · Step 5 of 9
In this video
When actively cleaning the carpet, use a slow and deliberate technique. Make a long, slow forward pass, simultaneously releasing the chosen cleaning solution (vinegar or OxiClean mixture) onto the carpet. This allows the solution sufficient time to penetrate the carpet fibers and begin to break down embedded dirt and stains. After the solution has been applied, let it dwell on the carpet for several seconds, or even up to a minute, to maximize its working time. Then, make a slow backward pass, allowing the carpet cleaner to effectively suction up the dirty solution and any dislodged grime. For very dirty carpets, this entire process may need to be repeated multiple times until the water extracted into the dirty water tank appears visibly cleaner, indicating thorough cleaning.
