Step 5 · Apply Adhesive

Once the fit is confirmed, remove the treads. Apply a generous bead of construction adhesive or a quality wood glue along the top edge of the risers and the supporting stringers where the tread will rest. Ensure even coverage, especially along the front edge and back. This adhesive will provide a strong bond and help prevent squeaks.
