Step 6 · Plant Potted Ground Cover

Dig holes large enough to accommodate the root ball of each plant. Gently remove the plant from its pot, loosen any tightly bound roots, and place it in the hole. The top of the root ball should be level with the surrounding soil surface. Backfill the hole with soil, gently firming it around the base of the plant to eliminate air pockets. Space plants according to their growth rate and mature size, typically 6-18 inches apart for most ground covers.
