Step 7 · Install Decking Boards

Starting from the edge of the deck, lay the first deck board, ensuring it is straight and flush with the edge. Fasten the deck boards to each joist using two deck screws or nails per joist. Maintain a consistent gap between boards (typically 1/8 inch) for drainage and expansion. Trim the ends of the deck boards flush with the deck edge after installation.
