Step 1 · Measure and Mark

Using a tape measure, carefully record the length of each wall segment that will receive crown molding. For each piece, you will need to mark the molding at the appropriate lengths. Remember to factor in the corner angles, which will require angled cuts. A common approach is to measure the wall and add a small amount for the angled cuts, or to use a digital angle finder for precision.
