What to expect when ordering chicks or chickens from Meyer hatchery.....Day 1 arrival! Awesome!
What happens here
Using scrap boards and cedar scraps, the presenter constructs a custom lid for the galvanized brooder tub. He screws the pieces together to create several sections that can be easily lifted for access. Crucially, he intentionally leaves air gaps between the wooden slats to ensure adequate ventilation for the chicks, preventing overheating and maintaining air quality while still helping to contain dust and hold in warmth.
Goal: Create a functional lid for the brooder that allows for ventilation.
Tools and materials
- Cedar Scraps — Creating handles and possibly structural elements for the lid
- Cordless Drill — Driving screws to assemble the lid
- Scrap Boards — Building the main sections of the lid
- Screws — Fastening the wooden pieces of the lid
