What happens here

This video details the process of planting grapevines on a farm, focusing on preparing planting holes with an auger, amending soil with manure, and establishing a support system using bamboo stakes and a high-tensile wire trellis. The goal is to set up a vineyard for future fruit production.

guys you ever wonder if your wife's going to kill you thinking about it hey guys it's Josh showing a ridge farmer and welcome to the farm blog today I've got a few projects going on here first project just for us to get out of the grandma welcome because it makes too much noise follow us along today I'll show you what we've got going on sky some grapevines we're going to go ahead and get in the ground got a couple fruit trees we're going to be planting I've got to spread out some of that old straw that we got up the last few days and we're going to spread it out on some bare land areas and just a few things poking around on the farm but one thing we did discover is I've got a hole in my hat I need mini rat a most peculiar noise has presented itself this morning I think we've we got us a rooster guys I don't know if you heard it but I'll try to let you hear them again we've got us a rooster I think it's vanilla ice you know we named all the chickens in a previous video if you look back through them farm blogs there you'll find them it's the chicken roundup video anyway I think vanilla ice has presented himself as a rooster let's see if we can catch him crowing turns out we got us a camera shot chicken so we gonna set the camera down we're gonna walk down to the mailbox get us a little bit of exercise and work off my farm Minnie Oh getting fat living on a farm in rural North Carolina I love gravy I love gravy guys we're gonna leave the camera down here the chickens for a little bit and see if we can catch the one that's rooster we're going to figure out which one it is well guys we left the camera on the chickens for 10 minutes or so and still no crowing so we might have to wait till in the morning I know we got at least one rooster and vanilla ice is my suspect we can only have one rooster in our world so we're going to pick the previous one and we're going to put the others in a pot and then we'll enter through the ohmic eulerís horse muscle Oh case you don't know that there's your bit muscle Oh bicular is Oris right here I bet you can't guess what the avicularia say mice's so as it's about every day on the farm we've got to walk around check our animals I got a big old bale of hay up here we're going to bust open for the goats and let them chow down you want breakfast bacon apples free that's a good dog guys we got the tractor running over here we want to get the tractor all warmed up get it to good operating temperature want to tell you something I know you might be looking at my dog kennel I'm thinking of the dogs in a gross kennel rule how pitiful dude it's not pitiful my dog got sprayed by a skunk day before yesterday and I'm going to tell you what this is a farm dog farm dog it's not an inside dog farm dogs an outside dog he's a protector he watches over the fields keeps the raccoons out of the chicken he's a farm dogs my farm dog got sprayed by a skunk and he's standing outside oh I'll show you how happy the goats are to see it they're like five hundred yards away hey girlfriend so every day I went in this field we try to get a spot where the grass is grown-up okay and this is pepper and pepper if her feet are on my man parts and I think she knows it so he gang everybody so what we do to try to tame our ghost town oh sit down let them come over kitchen oh okay hold your sauce hey baby it's really really somebody's going to get more food than you pepper I promise so that's how we get our goats all teamed up they don't like to be touched sometimes okay maybe this one good this is cool so guys this is the bail of that free hay that we got and we want to roll it out into the field to a spot that needs a little more organic matter so that the goats will pick their way through it and that makes you the soil nice and rich so we're going to roll them on out has to be kind of careful with this hay because it has briars in it which is sticking your fingers so we don't want all of it in the same spot that's it we got to spread the hang out a little bit so that's a go school as they go and spread that nice butt fertilizer that they give us all right behind me is the old farm bronco guys well the old farm Bronco has a little bit of a problem it's old and needs work but there's also a dead tree hanging right over top of it so we're going to have to either remove the tree or move the Bronco because we don't want to treat a fall on our Bronco just one of the many things that we've got to take care of on the farm got to keep our eyes peeled for dangers like that guys we've got to take all this old hay and we're going to spread it out on spots that are washing that's why we got the old hay we don't really need it for the animals so much we will use some for the animals we'll sell some and we'll also spread some out on the land just like we're going to do right now so guys what we've done here is we've used her auger on our tractor here and we've drilled several holes I think we have nine or so brake lines to plant we've got some other great funds that we need to get planted but we don't have the trellis system up yet for them for the post up so maybe today will mark that and go ahead and get all of our grapevines in the ground what we're doing is putting a little bit of manure with each grapevine and we're sticking a little stick of bamboo and we'll take some zip ties and loosely zip tie them to the bamboo so that they'll grow straight up and catch the trellis it will probably be later this year or next year before they get big enough and tall enough to grasp onto the trellis but let me show you what we're doing hey guys so these are the grapes that we're planning here's a hole basically we dug the hole with the auger on the tractor filled it partially with manure we got horse manure from a local horse barn stick around the ground here break a little bit of dirt and a little bit of manure all around here don't be scared guys I've already had my manure vaccine for the year so I'm okay handling this manure this isn't like poop okay this is composted manure we pack it in and we leave kind of a divot all the way around so rain water will puddle and what are our little plant then last but not least we're going to take our bamboo stick sticking on the ground and later we'll zip tie up to the bamboo with the help of mrs. Stoney Ridge we've got all these planted we actually planted 11 grape vines right here what we're going to do is we have a pole right here so we've got several poles and we'll be running to these poles some high-tensile line right across through here and that way we can support our grape vines on a trellis system kind of like at a winery we're going to run our high tensile cables through a little hole that will drill through here that's the summertime project got plenty of time for that but we want to go ahead and get our grape vines in the ground basically what we're going to do is take our cables run them through our poles here and we've got some anchors that will screw into the ground on the other side of the pole right down here supporting the weight of the grapes should be pretty awesome will also put fence posts in between the grapes too as planned grapes Tony raised farmer style woo that wraps it up pretty much for the farm vlog today we didn't get a chance to get our fruit trees in the ground mostly because I couldn't make up my mind exactly where I wanted to put them so anyhow we'll get to that probably tomorrow we may end up leaving them in the big pots they were sitting on the on our front sidewalk in big pots we bought them last spring we got them on sale guys you can buy this these fruit trees really cheap at the end of the season and save them and plant them either the next year or buy them in the spring and plant them later in the fall I would not plant a fruit tree in the spring if my life depended on it we're still in late winter right now if you plant a fruit tree in the springtime you end up watering that thing all summer long that's not what you want you want to plant a fruit tree sometime in December or January so we have some plum trees like I said we may end up leaving them in their big old pots so that we can keep a close eye on them they're about the blood out so we're going to have some wonderful plums but any out we'll get to that at another day so we'll see on the farm blog tomorrow hopefully tomorrow we'll be marking out the garden I'd led into that a few farm vlogs ago and we still haven't got the garden marked out we're going today to Louis to pick up some potatoes it's about time to get our potatoes planted we may get some cabbage plants and possibly some broccoli so once again this is Josh Tony rich farmer guys don't forget to subscribe to the channel click the like button if you like what's going on here follow us on our journey making this place a fully functional money-making farm and also homesteading and living off the land so follow us on our journey subscribe to the channel thanks this is Josh turning rich farmer so the real reason we didn't get our fruit tree planted is because we've been spreading hay all day long look at my hands we're too tired I skipped our butts messin with hay man makes you snort E and Snoopy and snot Ian you should all need a small snail so we'll see you next time whoa
