What happens here

Locate the air filter housing, usually a large cylindrical canister on the side of the engine. Unlatch the clamps or remove the wing nut that holds the cover in place. Carefully remove the outer (primary) air filter. Often there is also an inner (secondary) safety filter. Remove both the primary and secondary filters. Inspect the old filters for dirt, dust, and debris, noting how dirty they are. Clean the inside of the air filter housing with a damp rag, being careful not to introduce debris into the engine's air intake. Install the new secondary air filter first, ensuring it seats properly. Then install the new primary air filter. Reattach the housing cover securely, ensuring all latches or fasteners are in place to prevent unfiltered air from entering the engine.

Goal: Install new primary and secondary air filters for clean engine air intake.
