(8,413 characters)hello youtube this is distressing day here on the farm we're actually only gator right now very distressing day give a few people a chance to get in here on this Sunday this is gonna be a bit shaky and a bit windy because this is real life this is what's going on hopefully everyone can hear me okay can you guys hear me all right Fire Department just left okay 116 people here guys there's been a fire on the Stoney Ridge farm we are burning big brush piles and the fire got out so earlier today everything was going fine we're on the Gator right now everything was going fine earlier today we lift this pile up that's above our pond and I'll walk you around that pile a little bit and show you you're gonna hear some wind okay I'm pretty sure you're going to hear some wind on the camera today the the wind shifting so you can see it blowing and it's blowing across the highway right here the wind keeps shifting so when we lit the fire the wind was blowing straight towards the water towards the pond and then it shifted and it started blowing this way and then it started blowing back that way so a long story short all it took was one hot ember to drift across the road right here and everybody's okay we got over there and we tried to fight the fire ourselves which was pretty not not very smart the smoke was the biggest danger there was a huge plume of smoke in the woods and basically you can see the fire here basically right across the woods from the fire right across the road was where the smoke and everything happened so this was a big big thing so we had three fire trucks out here I wanted to do a live feed a lot of the guys at the firehouse watched the vlog here and I want to thank the Shiloh Fire Department nothing was messed up there's a lot of fuel on the forest floor and you guys can see how big this fire is right here and this is the size of like a 2,000 square foot house okay this is a huge fire and the weather report changed and basically we ended up having 50 mile an hour gust and a wind direction change which blew it straight across the road so you know I'm a little bit ashamed you know when when the fire department gets called out I've I'm a little bit ashamed I don't know I just I feel like as a responsible person I shouldn't let this happen now the wind is as calm as it can be right now if you look up I'll show you the plume of smoke so the plume of smoke is up there it's just it was just crazy was just unfortunate and I was even talking with some of the guys from the firehouse and and they said you know we were burning brush the other day at our place and the wind shifted and you know we were clearing some land and this happened so this kind of thing can't happen I'm standing and it's hot it's hot it's like baking my back so the place is going to be so beautiful guys when we get done with clearing all this land if you look back in we'll turn the camera around back in behind me [Music] that's something huge huge huge and you can see see the wind it shifted and wind shifted and now it's blowing across the pond it's wild it's very very wild fire scares me and I want to tell you don't worry about fire when I was a child so I'm really afraid of fire okay let's just say that when I was 10 years old it was common practice for us to go get a truckload of feed for our hogs and that was 10 years old it was September 9 September was the 17th of April was this month what is today is today the 17th of April 15th it was the 17th of April I had set a fire well I was set with the task a ten-year-old kid was set with the task of burning the old feed bags in the trash barrel in the burning barrel and they were paper feed bags so what you did was she went and stuffed those paper feed bags into the fire barrel and it was really windy just like this and I stuffed those bags down in there and I took them a little lighter I actually had matches so strike-anywhere matches and I struck it and it wouldn't light struck it again and it wouldn't like just because the wind was whipping just like it's whipping now so I went and I had seen my father put kerosene or diesel fuel on a fire like you know like we have behind us I'd seen my dad put kerosene or diesel fuel on the fire to burn the I I lit it in with the match and before I even lit it before I even got the match to it it exploded in my face so I was leaned over the barrel like this and when I lit it drop the match in it blew up in my face and I sustained second and third degree burns from basically here up I burned all the hair my ears were black my nose was black that's why I'm scared fire I spent ten days I an intensive care unit in Charlottesville Virginia and the at the UVA burn unit is in intensive care and I survived and fire scares me the wind isn't cutting you guys too bad today but you know the only way we have two choices to get rid of this stuff one choice is burn it and one choice is pile it up in the dump truck and haul it off we had to burn it we had to get rid of it but we didn't have to burn it today and you know who knows when the weather is going to change like this and the winds gonna shift scary time scary time the farms looking beautiful springtime is here bad time of year to burn even the Forest Service came out and you know the Forest Service can find you for this kind of thing but there was nothing we could do just just nothing we could do I felt bad so guys mrs. Stoney Ridge is over here and I've got my neighbor over here he was helping me out we call 9-1-1 we got the fire put out across the street but we still got to watch this and we're praying for rain there's a huge system-generated come through and that will put a lot I'll put my mind at ease a lot okay so the reason we lit this is because we started feeling raindrops and consequently we thought it would be safe because the storm was coming it went up it blew embers and set the forest on fire now the forest over here was my forest it's ok it doesn't bother me that it burned I think it's actually all that's just stumps and stuff that that we raked up from this area above our pond this place looked rough when we bought it it looked really really rough and it's just turning out to be a very beautiful beautiful place the heavy equipments out there you can see it I wanted to do a vlog today before you see so it's pretty fun everything was all fun and games until the fire jumped the road and it's just dangerous so yes thanks a lot for joining us on the Stoney Ridge farm we've got a pretty cool week ahead of us and we'll be doing some work in the garden we've got our tomato plants growing everything looks bit they're just got a lot of work to do got a lot of farm work to do we'll take the drone up in the air probably tomorrow the next day and show you how these piles are progressing and show you how the whole farm is progressing but everything's just turning out beautiful beautiful beautiful I appreciate all you guys I appreciate you your support and support in the channel and please we have an Instagram account guys so I just started an Instagram page or account or whatever you want to call it its Instagram Ford / Stoney Ridge farmer if you want to keep track of what's going on and get some sneak peeks of things to come in future vlogs I'll have those posted on Instagram first okay so throughout my day I'll go through here while I'm working and take snapshots and little videos so you can see what's to come on the vlog and you can see what's going on here on the farm so if you're here to follow what's going on it's awesome if you're here to learn it's awesome to guys 230 people here only 84 likes click that like button pound it pound that like button show me some love 94 here it goes coming up pound it if you're in here pound that like button you know that really helps the channel I don't know if you guys know that or not but clicking the like button leave in comments giving feedback this is social media it's what helps helps to grow the channel if you share this stuff on social media post it on Facebook share it help this thing grow and make it something very special we can take you along thanks a lot we're gonna watch this fire for about four more hours or until the rain starts pouring down all over us I appreciate it guys and we'll see you next time on the Stoney Ridge farm okay thanks a lot take care I would give you the woo-woo bad day tough day
