Repair Your Drywall in 3 EASY STEPS! Prepping Walls to Paint
What happens here
Allow all applied spackle to dry completely. Drying time will vary depending on the thickness of the application and humidity. Once dry, take a medium sanding sponge and lightly sand over each patched area. The goal is to gently smooth out any slight ridges or imperfections left by the patching process, not to sand aggressively. A few light passes should be sufficient to make the repaired spot flush with the surrounding wall. After sanding, run your hand over the area to ensure it is perfectly smooth and undetectable to the touch. The wall is now prepped and ready for priming and painting.
Goal: After the spackle has thoroughly dried, lightly sand the patched areas with a medium sanding sponge to remove any remaining ridges and achieve a perfectly smooth surface.
