Telescoping Ladder FACE OFF! They're Basically the Same... Right?

this Christian hope here here on pay live TV today I'm gonna be talking about these compact extending ladders because every time I post some video about them you either love them or you hate them so I'm going to tell you what I think about them right now in this video so stay tuned alright so today we're gonna be talking about two different compacts extendable ladder so I got one right here and I believe it's called the lion ladder I got one right behind me here and that's called the extend climb ladder and the extend climb ladder I've been used in personally for about over probably 10 years now I just got sent this one I'm going to talk about this lion ladder it is this one that you should be use it or not and some of the features I'm gonna talk about right now will just kind of go over it it's kind of like all the other extending compact extending ladders I've seen they extend up to a certain height I got this one the extend climb right here this is a professional model I don't believe this is a professional model right here but they extend up and they retract and they retract down to a compact size just like this and all of them typically have some type of strap on them so you can strap it and then you can carry it away very simply and easily so now I'm gonna go over and walk you through some of the features of this lion ladder and we'll compare it with the extend climb ladder right there which I've been using for a long time so now looking at this line ladder right here here it is this is a compact unit and it first look I'm started looking at the saying it's definitely not a professional model so don't use it if you're a professional on a daily basis maybe just once or twice here there you know like once a month twice a month something like that but don't think you're gonna use this thing every day and it's gonna last but it has your typical strap now one thing I figured out about this right off the bat it doesn't act like a extend climb you ratchet it up and it goes back down it took me a little bit to figure this out but it ratchets up from the bottom and you got to go from the bottom up right there one thing I do like about this ladder it gives you lots of warnings right here it has a red bar right here you don't want to step beyond that red bar on this ladder it's interesting that red bar has pretty high up there and then I read the warning label down here and it said do not stand above 6.6 feet which is pretty unusual because this is way above 6.6 feet so that's kind of interesting but this ladder itself it has two mechanisms right here the the push buttons that you push with your thumbs to release the ladder but I'll put it all the way up and I'm going to show you something about this ladder which is kind of unusual you got to go from you know from bottom up now once I get up here you know it's a little difficult to extend extend the ladder up but it does have these red buttons right here which is kind of unusual the extend climb doesn't have that you push those buttons and the ladder goes down it goes down kind of like a shock absorber on a car so you push these two buttons the concerning thing with me is if you push these two buttons and this ladder goes down if somebody accidentally walks by and hits those buttons where they get hit and you're on the ladder is just gonna start ratcheting down on your lap while you're on the ladder the things ratchet is all the way up see I can't I can't Ratchet it up and there so I've got to somehow get it up now I've got it up there looks like it might be stable here's something kind of cool I do like this about this ladder if you push these the thumb buttons right there it all just starts coming down all by itself unlike the extend climb ladder which is really difficult the thumb buttons are very difficult to push it's very difficult to ratchet back down but this whole shock absorber mechanism I'm not sure if I would really trust that thing hits and I don't know what's holding it up inside there's nothing really positive locking on the outside so I'm not sure so we'll ratchet it back up show you it does drag so it does drag down here when it's leaving some scratches on the rails already will ratchet this down so I'm just learning how to use this thing but it did seem like it did it stayed up in the up position if I go from bottom up it stays down so let me see if at all it's kind of unusual now if I undo the bottom two rungs will it stay locked up top it does not stay locked up top but I can Ratchet it up because I already got the bottom two unlocked now it's stays up its kind of its kind of weird it takes a little bit to figure it out I'll just push the buttons right there it's gonna slide down kind of nice and convenient but I do notice that it's that it is the bottom rungs right here are dragging a little bit now I'm gonna break out this one so this is the extend climb ladder I've been using this ladder professionally like I say for about for about 12 years and it's a lot heavier this is a heavy-duty model you can start from the bottom up it positively ratchets now you in order to get it to come down you have to push in the thumb things in it'll lock in place you got to each individual rung you have to push it in unlock it and that is a positive locking system which I feel a lot safer with feel a lot I don't know when I'm climbing up and down the ladder like this I'm not sure like I really don't feel that you know like you know confident that thing's not going to unwrap it but this is the professional model show you how easy it is to so now that thing's fully extended I can get up on top of the roof right here I know some people are not confident with the Flex on these things but let me show you so there's quite a bit of flex on this ladder but I'm pretty confident with it myself that it's not gonna Bend twist or break both ladders have on the bottom of them they do have non-slip feet so they won't they they won't slip hopefully won't slip like tile floors or tile floors are hardwood floors but I personally would still put a non-slip drop cloth down peanut you got to stay over here so as with any tool proper care and maintenance especially with these ladders is very very important and I haven't had this one very long I haven't used it out in the field at all I don't know if I would trust it out in the field I trust it around my house doing light tours but I notice I take these these out to do power washing quite a bit if you get this ladder wet extremely wet a lot of water running down on it what I've noticed is water gets down inside the ladder gets down inside the rungs right here and the pissed ends if you turn it upside down and shake it water will start coming out and I know the water gets locked in there and doesn't stay in there another thing is is paint debris and dirt stuff like that is gonna cause these things not to run very well this one seems to have some type of like air system in it and I'm not sure like if you're getting water down in that or if that's gonna affect this thing running at all I would be pretty scared if I got water down inside this but this one here I've even gone to the extent of lubricating them with wd-40 so they'll run smoother because they start to run pretty rough if they start to get dusty and dirty this one on the bottom down here the bottom rungs because I don't this is not nearly as durable as the extend climb it seems like it's already rubbing and causing you know some issues right here and I don't know if it needs to be lubricated or not it doesn't say so on the ladder but just proper care and maintenance my recommendation is not to get either one of these ladders wet the the extend climb I've turned them upside down to try to let the water run out of it and work out of it over time and it doesn't seem like all the water comes out so I've just made it a habit to keep my power washer away from that thing and not get it wet if you're gonna have it inside of a house you know either one of these ladders in spraying it's not a good idea to get any type of overspray overspray does so if you're gonna be spraying inside of a house I wouldn't have an extend climb in there if it was absolutely necessary and as soon as you're done spraying I would take it out because you overspray just the dust in the air the silica dust stick into these rails and get down inside of there let me extend this one up and get an idea how Paul this one is right here giving the idea of the flex on it nothing's pretty rigid right there not nearly as much flexes it's tend climb but the extend climb is extended up a lot higher and don't think I want it to break right now because I just had back surgery like eight weeks ago but now once again to get it down mixed in climb like all these ladders themselves these the the rungs right here they have to stay clean and free of paint cuz if paint starts getting on these things then it's gonna start causing them to to start dragging really bad the thumb things I've had the extend climb ladders these thumb push the push buttons right here we've had a break multiple times on the ladders and but you know they typically do last quite a while I've had why had one of them probably for about ten years before the thumb things broke off one thing I don't like about the extend climbers it has a green dot right here their paper dots to show you whether it's engaged or not engaged and those things come off pretty fast it should be like maybe like epoxy they're painted on there but you know here it is extend climb you know if I was gonna get one of these ladders and I have one is a professional painter I definitely be sticking to the extend Klein model it does have you know some of its issues I've had the straps break on these things before but once again they're a lot harder to disengage you typically got to start from the bottom if you start from you start up too high it's too hard to push the thumb ball buttons down on the bottom so start disengaging the ladder it's got a velcro strap right here easy to strap and then it's got rubber on the bottom right here I've been using these things for you know quite a few years with confidence the professional model is a new model that they come out with recently and it's got stronger rungs on it and stuff but that's a comparison between extend climb and a lion ladder right there once again line ladder takes a little bit to figure it out just kind of just acts in weird ways it's so it'll stay it won't stay locked unless you get it all the way up so here's the red button push the red buttons wherever you push them the things gonna start coming down and it hits the red buttons when it touches the next rung right there so the plastic on this thing it's not a heavy duty you know industrial plastic it kind of looks like maybe it's a mid-range plastic the rivets all look like they're in there good and well but once again I think they're saying you know probably for you know if you are a professional painter you needed to get on a roof every now and then but it's gonna take some wear and tear inside your vehicle I really think it's probably just more of a do-it-yourself model for a do-it-yourselfer that's gonna use it you know a few times a year here and there so there you go hope you enjoyed
