LSXcalade Rebuild: Dart Block 427 Goes In & Custom Accessories Explained!

What happens here

Prepare the intake manifold by installing a new O-ring for the high-ram lid, cutting it to fit, and applying RTV sealant in strategic spots to ensure it stays in place. Address the intake manifold's fitment issues by using a Milwaukee cutting tool to shorten a bolt for the MS3 harness ground and by 'wallowing out' the lid bolt holes to allow for proper shifting and tightening. This improves sealing and aesthetic appeal.

Goal: Ensure proper fitment and sealing of the intake manifold

Tools and materials

  • Bench Vice — Holding bolts while cutting
  • Box Cutter — Cutting the O-ring to fit
  • High-Ram Intake Manifold Holley SFI — Engine air intake system
  • Intake Manifold Lid Holley SFI — Covering the intake manifold
  • Milwaukee Fuel Cut-Off Tool Milwaukee — Shortening bolts and modifying intake manifold holes
  • MS3 Harness Ground Bolt — Securing the MS3 harness ground
  • Nut — Protecting threads when cutting bolts
  • O-Ring — Sealing the intake manifold lid
  • RTV Sealant — Securing the O-ring and ensuring a tight seal

character building now we're going to get the o-ring ready for the high rim lid which is a little interesting it comes just as a string like that and you lay it around here and cut it to fit and then you put some rtvc this is a used manifold it's already kind of on there but what i did on the old one is i put some rtv in other places to hold it down because i couldn't get it to like stay flat so that's what we're gonna do now so it's cut to fit let's put some rtv in there maybe we'll put a little bit down here just to make sure it doesn't fall out i said before when uh we had to make the holes bigger for the lid that if they were gonna be visible on top you get some nicer bolts well it comes with them that's freaking really cool but i don't know if i can use those studs i know i use these to hold the intake down before for some reason i don't know exactly why uh i suspect that i could not get the intake over the studs with the windshield cowl the way it was i don't know maybe i just didn't like the way the studs looked i'm not sure probably end up getting new uh stainless versions of these because this black finish kind of comes off and these forgot rusty i didn't know i was gonna do that when i built this thing so this on here kind of got attacked in place here here here here over here and right there that's the joint and i threw some black spray paint on there to see to let it dry so i could take this fitting out and cut it down because it bugs me how much that sticks up i don't know how much it would really disturb airflow not trying to make you know point two percent horsepower more i just don't want to you know have these cylinders turbulated differently than these ones and you know melt something i don't know it's being paranoid being a perfectionist but uh that's what's all about so also i'm gonna do the convertibles i had to get new washers because we stole some of them to use on uncle rob to space it out correctly and they use red loctite to stick them together for the right um shin spacing we explain all that measuring the you know the converter preload shim and all that in the uh uncle rob 4l80 installation video we don't want to go over this a bunch of times we want your owner as much as possible but we don't want to repeat ourselves too many times i guess is what we're saying i don't know can you ever be too detailed let me know would you just look at it oh yeah look at it use the same cutoff milwaukee thingy no disturbance of airflow here…
