Frame the Roof Structure
At 0:12 in
It’s almost time to frame up a new project, so I’m revisiting some old framing clips! #shorts
What happens here
Begin by establishing the desired roof pitch and calculating the rafter lengths. Install a ridge beam, often supported by gable end walls or structural posts, which will form the peak of the roof. Then, cut and install the individual roof rafters, attaching them securely to the wall's top plates (using birdsmouth cuts) and to the ridge beam. Ensure consistent spacing of rafters, typically 16 or 24 inches on center, and install any necessary collar ties or rafter ties to prevent rafter spread, adhering strictly to engineered plans or local building codes. This forms the essential framework for the roof.
Goal: With the wall frames complete, the next major step is to construct the roof structure. This typically involves installing a ridge beam and individual rafters to create the desired roof pitch and span, forming the skeleton for the roof.
