HOW TO PAINT CABINETS. Our entire cabinet painting process exposed.
What happens here
Always prime cabinets, regardless of whether they were previously lacquered or painted with latex/oil-based paints. For optimal adhesion and coverage, two coats of primer are typically applied, especially when transitioning from a stained finish to a pigmented finish. The primer acts as a bonding layer and improves the final appearance. For spot repairs on previously lacquered cabinets, an aerosol can of bonding primer can be used on damaged areas after sanding, ensuring compatibility with the chosen topcoat.
Goal: Ensure proper adhesion and coverage for the topcoat, addressing any previous surface issues.
