Apply and Water Polymeric Sand
At 6:01 in
How to Build a wood deck & install pavers, porcelain or stone tile over any deck
What happens here
Apply polymeric sand (TechniSeal NextGel) to the joints between the pavers. Sweep the sand into the joints, ensuring they are completely filled. After sweeping, use a leaf blower to gently remove any excess polymeric sand from the surface of the pavers. This step requires careful attention to avoid removing sand from the joints or leaving any on the tile surface. Once the deck is thoroughly clean, water the polymeric sand. First, apply a light mist to dampen the sand, then gradually increase the water flow to fully saturate the joints. Ensure the sand is fully wet without creating puddles or washing it out. Repeat the watering process several times as needed, and use the leaf blower to remove any excess water from the surface to prevent hazing or staining. This process will lock the sand in place, creating flexible and durable joints.
Goal: Fill and set the paver joints with polymeric sand for a durable and flexible finish.
