How to Build a Backyard Water Feature

What happens here

To complete the aesthetic and functional look of the water feature, arrange large, flat stones around the perimeter of the reservoir lid. These stones will serve as both a decorative border and a natural funnel to direct water flowing from the curtain back towards the drainage holes in the lid. Once the perimeter is established, fill the center area of the reservoir lid, within the stone border, with smaller rocks. This layer of smaller rocks will act as a slower drainage system, preventing splashing and helping to filter larger debris before the water re-enters the reservoir.

Goal: Decorate the base of the water feature while enhancing water collection.
