FAST Wall Patch! EASY Wall Repairs.

What happens here

Prepare the quick-setting drywall compound (hot mud), specifically USG Easy Sand 5, using a Mud Mixball. For optimal consistency, the recommended ratio is three scoops of mud powder to one scoop of water. Pour the mud powder into the Mud Mixball, then add the water. Use a drill-attached mixing paddle to thoroughly mix the compound until it reaches a smooth, pancake batter-like consistency, free of lumps. The Mud Mixball helps prevent dry mud from sticking to the edges, ensuring a consistent mix and extending working time.

Goal: Prepare a smooth, lump-free quick-setting drywall compound.

What they say

use a mud mix ball to do that so what we have here is some USG easy sand 5 which is a it's a catalyzed mud so it will dry they say about 5 minutes obviously that's going to depend on temperature and some different variables uh we're also going to be using a mud mix ball this thing is pretty darn cool because uh if you've ever mixed hot mud before Heck if you've ever mixed any mud before it can be a major pain to get the right consistency this makes it foolproof it's easy to clean out and you're going to get mud that has no chunks in it so Matt's done this part before so we'll let him start working through the process on this and so what we're going to do is you're going to take three scoops of this mud powder and put it into the mud ball well that is that is not a full scoop that that was a lazy scoop your pancakes are going to be very runny maybe I like him runny oh that's gross one of the when we were teaching how to mix up hot mud one of the things I would say to look for is uh look for a pancake batter light consistency now Pro tip that only works if you know how to make pancakes and you know what pancake batter looks like but this is going to get you into that realm of pancake batter a lot faster and a lot easier so there are two different scoop sizes one is for the powder the other is for water so you're going to do three scoops of powder to to one scoop of water we've got some clean water in a bucket right here and Matt is going to add that in a full scoop into that ball and then this kit comes with a spatula attached to a drill bit so now we're going to take that guy and we're going to mix it into uh mix this all together the nice part about this spatula process is that it does uh get all of the edges of the inside of this ball so you you don't end up with all of those random chunks of of dry mud floating around that you couldn't get when you would normally try to mix this into a pan one of the best parts about using this mud more mix ball is the fact that uh the problem with hot mud is you only get a couple of minutes to work with it using this you eliminate the guest work in a lot of the time that you would normally use mixing which means you've got more open time to work with your product so now inside this ball we've got a nice consistent even mud mixed up so we're going to go ahead and I'll hold the pan you dump this guy in you can squeeze all of that mud just into your pan this ball doesn't make a ton of mud but it's more than enough for most…
