FAST Wall Patch! EASY Wall Repairs.

What happens here

Transfer some of the mixed hot mud from the Mud Mixball into a mud pan. Scoop some mud onto a 4-inch taping knife. Carefully apply a thin, even layer of mud to the paper 'wings' of the California patch. Ensure the mud fully covers the back of the paper, eliminating any air pockets. Gently insert the mud-covered patch into the wall hole, making sure it sits flush with the wall surface. Press firmly but avoid pushing the patch too far into the wall cavity. Then, use the 4-inch taping knife to spread the mud from the center of the patch outwards, pressing down to squeeze out any excess mud and create a smooth surface.

Goal: Install the California patch securely and smoothly into the wall.

minute open time of the mud so Matt first what you're going to do is you're going to scoop some of that mud out and you can set that pan down if you need to on the the bucket here and and you're going to wipe the mud onto the back of this tape until it's all nice and full yeah a little bit more than that so you got cuz what we want to do is we want to be able to push this in and then when we spread that tape out we want to eliminate any of the air bubbles or Pockets or any it should just purely be mud behind that tape when it hits that wall and then we'll squeeze all the excess out when we place the patch now sometimes when I'm feeling really frisky or something what we'll do is we'll take a little bit of mud let's put a little bit on here just to make sure that we don't have any air pockets it's probably a little Overkill but again it's just to really make sure that we've we're going to have a successful seal on this patch and of course with a 5 minute mud time is of the essence so you ready yep we're going to take the patch we're going to set it in that hole now the what you want to be careful of is that you don't push that patch too far inside so scrape the mud off of your 4in knife nice clean and then you're going to work from the inside out and pull that paper down yep so see how the the uh patch is bumped out just a little bit so we want to push that in so that it's even perfect yeah just like that so he's going to pull out from the center on that patch wipe the mud back back into the
