COOKING WITH CAST IRON!! EVERYTHING YA EVER WANTED TO KNOW...SEASONING/CARING FOR CAST IRON COOKWARE
What happens here
For new pans, remove all stickers and any factory-applied plastic or tags. For old, crusty, or newly stripped pans, you'll need to remove all existing seasoning, rust, and grime. Place the pans (including lids) face down in your oven. Activate the oven's self-clean cycle and let it run for approximately one hour. This intense heat will burn off all residue, leaving the cast iron bare.
Goal: Remove all old seasoning, rust, or factory coating from cast iron.
